Rep. Wenstrup Votes to Provide Tax Relief to Hard-Working Ohio Families

Washington, D.C. - Congressman Brad Wenstrup released the following statement following the passage of the bipartisan Tax Relief for American Families and Workers Act:

“With this bill, hard-working Ohio families are getting much needed relief as we extend critical provisions from President Trump’s Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) that foster economic growth and help our economy, particularly as we face growing challenges from adversaries like China. Following the passage of TCJA in 2017, American workers experienced the fastest wage growth in a decade, the lowest unemployment rate in 50 years, and no corporate inversions. Now, extending these provisions will help Ohioans facing record-high inflation by boosting productivity and wages.

“We must make America the best place to do business and incentivize more manufacturing here at home, by reshoring manufacturing of products key to our national security and national health security. The TCJA was a huge step toward making our tax code globally competitive, and this legislation builds on the 2017 tax reform to lock in that progress, and propel our economy forward.

“This legislation also supports working families struggling with record-high inflation by including pro-life, pro-family updates to the child tax credit that support growing families and encourage work. It also includes provisions I championed to address the critical housing shortage working families in Ohio face, and will help to finance the construction of an estimated 200,000 new and affordable housing units for working families.”
